Week One

Umpires Notes : The game has begun and so far there is no activity to report.
There was a slight wobble setting up the writs (I'm kind of rusty after a year without assassins). You might have notived that the writs were addressing you as... well... your address. This was an error in one of the mail client spreadsheets which mistook the addresses for player names, this has now been fixed.
There is also a slight but with the writs which will be fixed tomorrow. With any luck no one will even notice a problem. The scores and status page for the current game will also be revealed tomorrow with all of your pretty little avatar images on.
Good luck with the current game,
The Umpire.

jack sparrow is killed by the icons rampaging rainbow zebra
The Icon Reports - Sooooo, just chilling in the kitchen then Jack Sparrow turns up, then we sit chatting until i ask can i kill you and then BOOM out come rainbow my killer zebra and she fell into my TRAP MWAHAHHAHAHAHHAAAAAAA
Later The Icon Reports - When set up i knew he had a next door flat mate and i said she was in my flat so when he came round to assassinate her i decided to attack with my make shift light saber made of old glow sticks in my window.
*Waiting for report from Jack Sparrow (Jane Atkinson)*
Umpires Notes : Congratulations for submitting the first kill of the game. For killing with an attack animal I am awarding 150 Kudos, and for drawing first blood you have earned another 500 Kudos.
Kaizoku ensures that the game has just ended for Schrodinger's cat
Kaizoku Reports - I had just arrived back at Stafford Court and was greeted with the news that one of my targets was on his way in. I casually stood by the entrance exchanging small talk with the locals and waited. No more than 3 minutes had passed before I saw him walking into the court, suitcase in hand, parents following. I restrained myself from taking his life in the hopes that he would be returning this way in a short time, hopefully without these "bodyguards". My thinking was correct as I witnessed him walking back passed me not long after, this time with only one man for protection. I seized the opportunity and produced a pistol from inside my jacket. With one pull of the trigger my target slumped to his knees muttering beneath his breath, "The game has only just begun."
*waiting for report from Schrodinger's cat ( Mat Jones)*
Umpires notes : Nice kill, have 100 Kudos
Poison Trickle kills praisedawg killing arbaaz
Arbaaz (Jasmine (Nick) Dempsey) Reports - I was collecting my Asda delivery outside the Stafford court and started to feel nervous about the amount of people outside, I realized I didn't have my weapon just in time to be shot in the back (I can not recall my killers name). A fellow Assassin at my side noticed the gun and took out my attacker. I died with the shame of never being able to have killed one of my own targets before my death.
Poison Trickle - We began our trip to the fabled ASDA van, me and Arbaaz. She began to suspect a vague disturbance in the force, when out of nowhere leapt Praisedawg wielding an armed Nerf gun - only the finest ASDA could produce. Before we could react, Arbaaz was shot down, with the assailant Waving her gun in the air. My one chance at redemption, Before i was potentially killed i had to act swift. i went into my left coat pocket, pulled out a Throwing star crafted from the deadliest paper and my Star struck true, unfortunately too late to hear her exclaim "wow, and to think i was out of ammo" , but it was too late. There was blood on my hands. and i enjoyed it.
Praisedawg (rebecca kuhn) Reports - Whilst the aroma of bacon slowly wafted through the kitchen's air my eyes averted to the window. A surge of excitement rushed through me as i saw my writ, Nick Dempsey standing near an ASDA delivery van. "Here's my chance" i thought. Grabbing my gun from my room i bolted out of the door accompanied by a citizen to act witness. The run to the archway was short and my target was in sight. She was also accompanied. In my excitement of a potential kill i did not acknowledge her companion as a threat. WRONG MOVE. I fired my gun at Nick killing her, but no more than thirty seconds later with my gun still exposed, her companion - no other than the notorious Poison Trickle - sliced off my face with his ninja star killing me, ending my reign of terror! As i sunk to the floor defeated next to the ASDA delivery van. To make it worse ten seconds later i saw non other than my second writ walk past us oblivious to the threat i could have mere seconds earlier.
Moral of the story? Never trust Poison Trickle, he's a little bitch and i'm going to put gone off milk in his tea.

Umpires Notes : Poison trickle receive 200 kudos for the use of a throwing star, and praisedawg receives 100 Kudos for a gun kill, poison trickle receives an extra 50 Kudos for being a tricky son of a bitch.
*This has been edited from 100 Kudos to 200 for the throwing star because it is a more complex weapon*

Kiwi knifes tin man in the kitchen
Kiwi Reports - Got let into his flat by his flat mate, walked into the kitchen and stabbed him.
Tin Man (Thomas (Tom) Burke) Reports - I was preparing food in the kitchen and my assassin burst through the kitchen door wielding a knife and brutally murdered me :(
Umpires Notes : 100 Kudos for the basic knife kill, 50 Kudos for uploading a pic of the weapon.
kiwi gets doubletapped just in case
Poison Trickle Reports - I had it. the perfect plan. After a conversation with a fellow assasin he let slip that Kiwi had tried to smuggle in assassins to take out her nemesis, the Murderous *anonymous assassin*. So i started to unravel my plan, first contacting kiwi on facebook about my fake intentions to get into her flat to kill*anonymous assassin* , however the target was closer than i expected. right under my nose in the next flat it would seem, so she dashed over, i was greeted at the heart stopping sight of her brandishing a weapon and pretending to stab me "only joking, she asserted, gladly the blade did not strike my flesh at this point . my heart was in my mouth at this point.... " So... i hear you're after *anonymous assassin* then?!" "..... uhhh yes" i retorted, slightly took aback at what had just happened. That was when i made my move. with a slide of the wrist i let the knife from within the wrist grasp of my coat , and slashed at her in the stomach. "sorry kiwi, i muttered...." She jumped back looking taken aback proclaiming it did not hit her. This was partly due to my fault for using thin card so as not to damage her body. So i slashed again, my blade again hitting my mark, the stomach. i look up to see Tom holmes (a civilian) witness the whole event, she turned to him, and said did he get me? "I think he got you to be honest" Truer songs had never been sung. At this she lunged at me defiantly with her knife, striking my left elbow with her knife , With myself bloodied i told myself this had to end now. from my right pocket i withdrew the trusty Nerf gun, ready loaded, and shot her square in the chest. With this she retreated exclaiming "at least i can sleep safe now" . As i write this i am still shook at the extreme defiance in her tone, glancing down at my blood stained elbow. My first contract kill, the first notch of an elegant web , spun masterfully by poison trickle.
Kiwi (Keylea (Speedboat) Orme) Reports - He messaged me to help him assasinate *anonymous assassin*, I went up to his flat, he then tryed to stab me, I blocked his attempet and counter-stabbed him.
A Civilian Reports - i was informed of a plan to trick kiwi into thinking his target was a flat mate of hers so she came over to visit him. in which i witnessed the false convo that he held with her before impaling her with a small hidden knife. he managed to stab her not once but twice. after her denial of being killed a final shot from a nerf gun gave him the killing blow.
For the basic kill I am awarding 100 Kudos. For the cunning plan to lure Kiwi over, and for the doubletap when the initial attack was being disputed I am awarding 50 Kudos. 200 Kudos as awarded for a double kill (killing two players in the same day).
Preferably you should discuss the events after the attack so that you can discuss what has actually happened. This would hopefully prevent disagreements later on.

Monday 14th January 2013
Midnight Blink Reports - The monotonous tapping of the keyboard stopped as soon as I heard a distinct, lone knock at my door. As soon as I reached the hallway, my eyes immediately fell on a letter pushed through the gap under the door.
I brought it back to my room and placed it on my desk, just staring at it. The familiar wax seal of the Umpire Bureau brought chills down my spine as memories of a haunting past flashed before my eyes.
I shook those thought out of my head, deciding it would be best if I opened the letter faster. It didn’t come as a surprise when I saw that the message was a single piece of paper with three names on it. One thing I knew very well from my past career was that you can never really retire from being an assassin; that is, until the day your own name shows up in one of those letters. And for that not to happen I had to pick up my old tools and make sure those names would not be among the living by the end of the week.
I bitterly closed the document I was working on my computer. Maybe one day I would finish that book. The real story of my life as a professional assassin would make a great fictional novel one day.
I reached for my hidden cabinet behind a few bookshelves. Opening it for the first time in years, I stared at the small arsenal that brought death in the most morbid of silence. They would soon be put to use again.
The first target was strangely easy to locate, however long gone were the days when I had concern for Umpire’s reasoning behind the writs they sent.
Standing in front of the university she attended, I check my watch as it struck the 13th hour of the day. Soon enough, I notice Keylea Orme walking alongside her friend, both heading towards Staffs Court, my Intel proving to be as accurate as always.
I walked behind her and as soon as I was close enough, I dully uttered her name. She turned around, the innocent look in her eyes barely making a scratch against my faded conscience. I casually drew my silenced pistol out of my coat. She seemed nice and way too young for her fate, but a writ was a writ.
A couple of shots to the head and chest were the most merciful way of doing my job. From what I found out about her, she seemed nice so she didn’t deserve to suffer. I left her friend standing by her body in shock silence as I went on as if nothing had happened.
I come back home and silently stare at the three names on the yellowed piece of paper. I grab a pen and slowly cross out Keylea from the list.
Something did feel weird about that day however: the whole time it felt as if someone was watching me. I shake the thought out of my head. That couldn’t be true; I was the assassin after all . . . right?

Umpires Notes - Unfortunately Keylea (Kiwi) had already been assassinated only hours earlier before the new writs could be released.
Since Kiwi was already dead I can not count that as a kill, however I will awards 50 points for having a well written reports that describes what would have been a successful kill. Better luck next time.

Poison Trickle Reports - I was outside having a fag with the newly deceased arbaaz when from across the court i saw my target. Armed with a single throwing star, and my questionably flimsy knife, And without my trusty nerf gun "Doubletap". i thought, i cannot get him now can i. i hardly know the guy, Luck was on my side, as arbaaz confronted him to talk about games, and initially took back, felt more reassured in our company after we told him she was dead. I would not get a second chance at this, i whipped out a throwing star of deatly paper, and pressed it between my back and bag, swapping hands with my cigarette to switch arms, grabbed the star, and threw, however a gust of wind knocked my projectile off course, and hit the civiilian Daniel snow. I panicked, "Was that meant for me??" he glanced with eyes wide open. Daniel retorted, that hit me. reassuring me, as he knew i was an assasin for taking our rebecca kuhn in the day prior. "No no, i exclaimed, i was only messing, i heard you guys talking about assasins and decided to scare you" "do you have any more weapons on you?" he asked, "None", i replied- Clutching onto my trusty flimsy dagger firmly in my pocket as he stepped on the star, crushing it's delicate intricacies under foot and with the star drenched, so were my thoughts, i should have readied myself sooner, moved to a more advantageous position But there was now no chance, matt had kept his distance and i was blocked between arbaaz and him. My finely spun web has had it's first notch unravel and is starting to become a mess of civilian bodies. Luckily, it seems he did not click that i was his assasin, it may have been my charm, but it must be reported to the bureau, before my honor fails me aswell as my aim.
Araaz Reports - 'Arbaaz'. Once a feared name, now soiled by my death. With this in mind and the thick cloud looming above me I decided to venture the grounds, to see the citizens wandering around, any of which could well be an assassin, any of which could have been me if my contract hadn't been cut so soon. I spotted an aquaitance of mine, the team leader of our young company, Hawkai games, and approached him to question a non-lethal job I had been signed. It was Matt Smith, his alias escapes me. He was weary of my presence and sped up as I walked over, I could sense the tension that warped the air into a feel of dread, he was unaware that my honor as an assassin had been burried with my blade. I assured him I could do no harm and he came to speak with me, his friend in tow. We took shelter underneath the small overhang of the laundrette's roof in the middle of the hunting ground, Stafford court. As we spoke of my assignment his guard was lowered and little to his knowladge, a mysterious figure stood behind me. Poison Trickle, out of the corner of my eye I saw the dull glint of a cardboard star peek from his pocket and before any of us knew it the deadly weapon spun through the air, clean past Matt, any closer and his throat would have become a crimson fountain, Matt's friend however was not so lucky, the star dug deep into his shoulder and as if a white flash had blinded the scenario, the next thing I knew the citizen lay dead, innocent blood trickled over the concrete. Matt looked back to the Assassin who assured him that the attack had not been set on him. Matt left, turning his back on the body of his friend and when I turned to see Poison Trickle, he was gone as mysteriously as he'd arrived. I returned to my quaters, the image of blood stained in my mind, my lust for it still burning.
Umpires Notes - This is an older report that I didn't initially upload on the assumption that the target might not have known about the attempts. From the report by Araaz the attempt is not obvious and therefore they have been uploaded.
For the death of a civilian I removed 150 Kudos. If this happens again the amount of Kudos removed will be greater, and you will end up on the wanted list.

The Tall Guy Reports - Unsuccessful Assassination
After around an hour of waiting for a chance to assassinate The Icon, opportunity arose as she answered the door to some friends. Once her back was turned and the door was closing I ran into her flat whilst she was walking back to her room firing a single-shot nerf gun.
The gun, provided by a friend is much more powerful than the one in my possession so I misjudged the bullet drop causing the bullet to fly just above her head alerting her to the attack. Before I had a chance to reload with another shot, she had successful entered her room and has learnt my identity.
Within the next few days I intend to make up for my mistake and finish the job.

sum yung ho took Mike Litoris by surprise when violently discharged into FYI I am an assassin (three times)
Sum Yung Ho Reports - Ultimate Frisbee annual general meeting had just finished at approximately 7pm. The victim was suspicious of assassination but not necessarily his own demise. The group left student space and headed for the exit. The victim turn towards the cash machine and i took arms. My cover was blown! The victim ran back inside. However, due to a discussion, the victim left the safety of the building (possibly unknown to him) and a kill was made. Using my trusty Nerf pistol i triple tapped to ensure victory. I quickly hid my weapon and made my way back to my accommodation to escape further assassination attempts.
This was the report of the tragic death of Andy Worstencroft.
This was the report of the tragic death of Andy Worstencroft.
Mike Litoris - I heard a shot...
A violent bang of a gun or rifle discharging...
I run around the corner just outside of the front of the University, to see the assassin and a bleeding body of his victim...
Just to be sure the assassin fires another 2 shots into the hip and belly of the victim, who was a rotten mess by the end of it...
I decided to stay within the safe zone and allow the rabble of people to leave, after I tea-bagged the rotten remains of the victim as a sign of good will

*Waiting for a report from FYI I am an assassin (Andy Worstencroft)*
Umpires Notes - Since I was witness to this assault I know that there was a dispute over what counted as a "safe area". To quote the rules...
"Inside the university buildings including Lounge and Legends and paved smoking area. Grassy areas and areas leading between buildings are not safe. Please remember that if you are near a building you are expected to act discretely and non-disruptively. Areas shaded in red below are out of bounds."
"Inside the university buildings including Lounge and Legends and paved smoking area. Grassy areas and areas leading between buildings are not safe. Please remember that if you are near a building you are expected to act discretely and non-disruptively. Areas shaded in red below are out of bounds."
...This means that by leaving through the doors the assassin had stepped out of the safe zone.
Something else that might have caused confusion was that in the SU players were debating about what counted as a safe area so that they could safely get to the AGM. For the sake of getting everyone to the meeting without too much pratting around I said "fuck it, this gathering (because the frisbee team had been eating in the SU) is now an officially agreed safe zone, you've got 10mins grace to get your butts to the meeting". This was before someone pointed out that you don't have to go outside to get to the meeting area, making the whole discussion pointless. Even if my comment about the safe zone had not been dismissed, it would not have saved the assassin in that situation, because the meeting was more than 10 mins long.
Basically to sum everything up: - you're dead, get used to it (or join the police).
Also for successfully killing a target with a nerf gun I am awarding 200 Kudos. It is worth me pointing out that the reports so far should aim to be slightly more specific if they aim to earn Kudos. Some people are only describing that they "shot" their target, but shooting a player with a nerf gun is worth extra Kudos compared to doing a bang kill.
My word is law!
'FYI I am an assassin' has contacted me disputing the claims of his death. He is refusing to write a report based on this fact. Because of this I am going to address the player directly:
The rules of the assassins game that you agreed to stated that you will report all assassin related activities including your own death. This is for the sake of fairness in order to allow other players to get on with the game, and so that other players can enjoy seeing what other assassins are getting up to.
Reporting your kill also gives players the opportunity to tell their own side of the story. By refusing to write your report you are basically shooting yourself in the foot with a labelled gun.
Since I WAS THERE when you were assassinated, along with many other witnesses I can easily say that you were in fact killed. If you feel like discussing the issue further then you should do so.
If I were to hold off removing you from the game in order to debate the issue I would be denying 3 other players their new writs. I would also be potentially wasting players time having them go after a player that I know to be dead. Please note that the first week is the busiest time of the game, and I just spent the last two hours updating everyone's writs.
If you had a reasonable issue relating to your death then reporting it, and opening discussion about it would be UP TO YOU.
I would also like to point out that spirit is a large part of this game. In the same way that I reward spirited players with Kudos, I also punish unspirited players. Because of this I am removing 250 Kudos that you have saved from previous games, I am also banning you from becoming police for this game until you write your report (make it a good one). Once you write it I will give you your Kudos back.
Lots of love,
A pissed off Umpire.

FYI I am an assassin strops - I'm dead. Thought I was in the safe zone, but whatever.
Umpires Notes - I had half a mind not to give you your Kudos back since that has to be one of the worst reports I've seen to date.
Since you are still disputing your claim I believe I need to submit my own report in more detail : -
The Umpire Reports - Last night was an ungodly night that will forever scar the back of my mind. After departing from the frisbee teams Annual General Meeting we headed to the warmth and safety of our own houses, however to get there we had to brave the frost kissed wilderness outside.
Out of the corner of my eye I spied the more guarded members of our faction stagger back in terror. It was then that I realised where we were, the boundary of a safe zone, and for some the boundary between life and death itself.
As we stepped out of the warmth of the safe zone the hairs on the back of my neck became like daggers. Behind me I heard a blood curdling scream… IT DIDN’T HIT, IT NEEDS TO BE BIGGER THAN A 5P!!!
I span around to see ‘FYI I am an assassin’ charge from where he was standing next to the cash point to just in front of the doors. From what I can tell he was struck by a pistol containing one of the most dangerous substances known to an assassin… water!
For extra measure Sum Yung Ho shot him again with a nerf gun, yet another direct hit. Again ‘FYI I am an assassin’ blurted out “IT’S A SAFE ZONE, SEE, THERE’S A ROOF”. To the confusion of myself, and those around me we explained to him the definition of ‘outside’. For the benefit of ‘FYI assassin’ here is a link to the oxford definition for ‘outside’ and a pretty diagram : -

To address the initial dispute over water weapons hitting an area over 5p the main reason for stating this is to better define what counts as a hit. It is simply so that if players are hit by spray, an indirect shot, don’t initially notice that they are hit or are shot by a gun running out of water they have a guideline to go on.
In your case the shot was a direct hit which might not have left a mark due to your waterproof coat, it seems highly likely it otherwise would have.
Shade Reports - I could not track down my target during the day, he had aluded me at every turn. So I decided to change my tactics, I decided to hunt within my comfort zone, the night. I saw online activity by my target and so went on to arrange a meet up. He had said how he was making a Pikachu on his window and so I said that me and my flatmate would go to help him with it. Unsuspectingly, he lead us into his flat and allowed us into his room, where I moved silently to my weapon and stabbed him in the back of the neck. Like a shade, I move onto my next victim
*The Ballistic Paperclip is yet to submit a report*
The Icon Reports - Detailed Description Whilst plotting to assassinate one of his victims i invited my writ over and unwittingly they turned up and upon opening the door was greeted with my light whip(cross between a light saber and a whip)and causing instant death.
*Waiting for a report from Rambo (Alakhdeep (alakh) Singh)*
Umpires Notes - I just realised you mentioned that you attacked Rambo previously and I forgot to follow it up (sorry). I'm assuming that this is the same attack as the one above. I will pit it here since I didn't award Kudos for it last time.
You get 125 points for the kill with an interesting weapon, and 200 points for the double kill.

Shade Reports - I have sent a letter to the distant target *undisclosed assassin*, anticipating his possible years of experience might foil other attempts. Filled with Anthrax, once it is opened he will begin to feels affects all over him. I hope he writhes in pain as he reads my final words to him.
Nonchalant Nigel Reports - It was Midday. As I awoke after a night of heavy drinking, I was disturbed by a knock on the door of my bedroom. I was informed my by house mate and good friend that I had received a letter in the post which appeared to be filled with something that sounded like loose sand. The letter had been slightly ripped during delivery and sure enough I could see it was filled will a blue dust like substance... Anthrax. While I had not touched the letter knowing full well what it was from sight alone, my innocent house mate had, and who knows? i myself may have been stained with the deadly substance.
I would not allow my innocent ally to die due to my profession, let alone myself. I got dressed and aggressively forced him out of the door and into his vehicle, handgun in hand in case anyone lay in wait and made him drive to the local hospital (a 5 minute walk, but it's cold). We made it easily within 30 mins to be sure and all signs of anthrax were cleared.
I know not my assassin's name, but this cowardly indirect attempt has rustled my Jimmies.
The only potential casualty in this? the innocent postal worker who may have been exposed due to his company's poor handling of a letter.

Umpires Notes - Nice try but it seems that Nigel is too on the ball. I am not going to count the post man as a civilian kill since the letter could have been damaged at any point in time.

Mare Do Well Reports - After multiple missed chances today I finally found my opportunity. Unfortunately I was unprepared and was forced to borrow a weapon from a fellow assassin.
I approached my target and his friend and struck up a conversation, I chose my moment and produced a nerf pistol from my jacket called his name and fired as he turned to face me. Despite a valiant effort to dodge my shot flied true and hit him in the side.
My target was eliminated and I returned home to plot my next assassination.

Ignatus (Daniel Rabbitt) Reports - Whilst walking home from society photoshoot We were joined by one Mare Do Well. After chatting with each other I began to have doubts, however before I could react he pulled out a single shot nerf gun and fired point blank into my left shoulder, then left, leaving me to stagger back to my room and collapse in a puddle of my own blood.
