Death
Upon death you will be placed on the "dead" list. Once there you can no longer play as an assassin; you do however have the option to be revived as a police officer, or join a queue to be revived as a thug.
Dead players are banned from assisting living assassins unless they have been revived as thugs. Any dead players that happen to be there during an assassination will either count as a civilian, or as if they don't exist based on the situation. This will be decided by the Umpire once all the reports have been received.
Police
Dead Players may also be resurrected as a member of the "Police force", if requested. This is a special group of Players who exist solely to hunt down and kill Wanted Players.
- Dead assassins may join the police force to enable them to hunt wanted players.
- To become a member of the police you must ask the umpire for permission.
- As a member of the police you may be killed in self defence like any other assassin, this must be reported to the Umpire.
- A police officer is not permitted to kill another police officer. Not even in self defence.
- To prevent confusion, a police officer is strongly advised to shout "stop police!" before they attack. This is to prevent police from accidentally attacking each other and to ensure that the people they are chasing don't mistake them for their assassins. Not shouting "stop police!" can prevent you from earning extra Kudos if it is reported.
- If you have died as police you may ask to be revived; however new lives will not be granted indeterminately.
- Police are not permitted to assist assassins in any way. If you wish to assist your fellow assassins you should either not join the police (in which case you will not be able to kill anyone if dead), or become their thug if they have saved up enough Kudos.
- Police do not earn the same points for killing players as normal assassins do; instead they earn police points. These points do not count towards your final score to win the game, however collecting the most can earn you awards. These points are usually shown in blue next to the players name.
- The Umpire is able to join the game at any time as the police chief. The police chief may kill and be killed like any other officer (the police chief is revived at midnight when killed).
If you are on the wanted list and you see a police officer you will be unable to claim self defence if you attack them without provocation. If you have reason to kill a police officer in self defence (e.g. they come at you with a knife) you will not earn points for the kill.
If you see a police officer wield a weapon and you are not on the wanted list you can't kill them in self defence if you hear them shout "stop police". This is because it is obvious that they are police and therefore have no reason to attack you.
Thugs
Thugs are dead assassins who have been resurrected in order to assist a specific living assassin.
To become a thug an assassin must "hire a thug" from the Kudos store. Once an assassin has purchased a thug, a dead assassin will be chosen by the Umpire to fill that role. The chosen dead assassin will then be informed that they have been revived as a thug. If you have been chosen as a thug but don't wish to participate then you should inform the Umpire and a replacement will be found.
If you have signed up late you can request to be a thug for the current game; this will give you a higher priority in becoming a thug to other dead players.
- Thugs do not earn normal points for kills. They earn thug points instead which act similarly to police points.
- If an assassin hires a thug who then kills one of their targets they will earn a normal point.
- Thugs can only assassinate players who the assassin that hired them has a writ for.
- Thugs can only work in groups of two or more. This means that they must either be accompanied by the assassin that hired them, or by a second thug hired by the same assassin. Any kills by a thug working alone will not be counted.
- You can not be a thug and be in the police force a the same time. If you are currently a member of the police force you can request to resign by contacting the Umpire.
- Assassins can hire either a completely random thug (300 Kudos), a thug from the players they have killed (400 Kudos), or choosing a specific player (500 Kudos) from the Kudos store.
- Thugs are expected to have good communication with their employing assassins and visa-versa. If either needs assistance getting in contact with each other you can contact the Umpire.
(Remember that just because you have requested to become a thug does not mean that you are guaranteed to become one. There will potentially be more people wanting to be thugs than there are assassins hiring them. It will not be a case of first come, first serve; this is to prevent assassins from playing the system and trying to work out which thugs they are likely to be hiring.)
