Codes of Conduct
Acceptable behaviour
Exercise common sense at all times. Players are entirely responsible for their own behaviour. The Bureau does not condone any course of action that leads to confrontation with people in authority. Avoid inconveniencing other people, Wardens and the general public.
Being a member of the assassins bureau does not grant assassins permission to break the law, or act in an unsocial fashion. When you are playing this game you are representing a community of players; if this community develops a reputation for being a bunch of yobs who break into houses, intimidate people, and act as a public nuisance the assassins bureau WILL have to close.
Players should aim to act with dignity, responsibility and a sense of fair play. This not only improves the quality of the game, but ensures that anyone not playing the game can go about their daily business without issue.
Avoiding panic is more important that the game
Do not attempt to encourage random bystanders, security staff or wardens to eject or intimidate those attempting to kill you or others. This can firstly give the assassin bureau a bad reputation, and secondly it is not fair gameplay. If you feel players are behaving unreasonably, contact the Umpire.
Be aware that both the security forces and the public are easily alarmed. Avoid behaviour that may cause them to mistake you for a stalker, burglar, murderer or terrorist: do not wear a suspicious clothing; avoid bearing weapons or fighting in public; remember that even toy guns can look real in the dark or on CCTV; where possible, do not lurk suspiciously.
If a player finds themselves in a situation which could potentially cause panic e.g. a civilian thinks you are acting suspiciously, then please act in a mature fashion. Speak directly to anyone concerned and explain your activities, the last thing you want is to be mistaken for potential burglars.
This should go without saying but if a situation arises then don't run away; doing so strongly suggests that you are doing something illegal.
If any situation does occur then The Umpire MUST be informed. Please don't try and hide any mishaps because everything does eventually come out.

Fair play
This game depends on players being honest. Please inform the Umpire of anything assassin related that occurs to you, or you know of. The Umpire will decide whether reports are published, and you can request that a report is not published. Anyone knowingly giving false or misleading information to the Umpire will face severe penalties.
Be aware that both the security forces and the public are particularly easily alarmed at present. Avoid behaviour that may cause them to mistake you for a stalker, burglar, murderer or terrorist: suspicious clothing; avoid bearing weapons or fighting in public; remember that even toy guns can look real in the dark or on CCTV. Do not lurk suspiciously.
You are perfectly at liberty to deny that you are an Assassin. However, you are not allowed to claim that you are a Dead Assassin and hence harmless. You may also not lie about the vital status of other Assassins who are immediately present.
Common sense
I like to think that most people have common sense, but according to allot of reports I receive they apparently don't.
This game by its nature requires players to research, stalk and attack their targets. Players are therefore expected to use their own judgment to know what acceptable behaviour is, and what is crossing a line. Although right and wrong might be a matter of opinion, here are a few dos and don'ts of what I consider to be acceptable behaviour.
Not acceptable
- loiter outside a stranger’s house.
- Enter a stranger’s house without permission.
- Stand outside a stranger’s house taking photos.
- Demand to be let into someone’s house.
- Avoid submitting reports, or revealing facts about your actions.
- Shout or scream in an intimidating fashion towards people you don't know well.
- Attack people as a group (other than as thugs). Excessive team working is frowned upon, and turning up at someone’s door in a group can be intimidating.
- Cause damage to property.
Acceptable
- Enter a friends house who you know well. You must know everyone who lives there.
- Knock on a door and politely ask if X person is home.
- Gathering info about a persons whereabouts.
You must
- Own up and be honest about your mistakes.
- Own up to your actual motives if it is causing confusion. e.g. if you are caught acting suspiciously.
If yo are still not sure if what you are planning is acceptable behaviour then please contact The Umpire.
